NFL Week 7: Late Window and Sunday Night Football Preview

There are three games in the late window, followed by Chiefs at Seahawks on Sunday night. With the clocks going back in the UK this weekend, the late-window games kick off at a reasonable hour, starting with Packers at Lions at 8:25pm.

Green Bay Packers (4-2) @ Detroit Lions (3-2)

This all-NFC North clash sees both sides needing a win, with Minnesota so far ahead in the division. These two sides sit third and fourth in the NFC North, with all four sides having a winning record.

The Packers have won their last three games, beating the Buccaneers, Bears and Cowboys. QB Jordan Love has an issue with his back, but was listed as a full participant in practice late in the week. He has 135 of 226 for 1684 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions. WRs Christian Watson and Matthew Golden have shared receptions so far this season, with Watson having 29 receptions for 538 yards and six touchdowns, and Golden has 20 receptions for 501 yards and three touchdowns. RB MarShawn Lloyd has 48 carries for 122 yards and two touchdowns.

The Lions are coming off their bye week, after beating the Cardinals in week five. QB Jared Goff has 128 of 191 for 1485, with 12 touchdowns and no interceptions. This team is packed with stars, so it’s surprising they are bottom of the NFC North. RB Jahmyr Gibbs has 105 carries for 504 yards and seven touchdowns, with 27 receptions for 243 yards and another two touchdowns. WR Amon-Ra St. Brown has 37 receptions for 372 yards and five touchdowns, with TE Sam LaPorta having 27 receptions for 316 yards and three touchdowns. WR Jameson Williams also has two touchdowns from 18 receptions and 276 yards.

Prediction – This is a tough game to call, despite the Lions being 2nd in points scored per game (32.8). However, they are 30th in points allowed per game with 29.6. I do think the Lions win by five points, but it will be a good game for the neutral to watch.

Kansas City Chiefs (5-0) @ Seattle Seahawks (3-3)

The undefeated Chiefs go to Lumen Field to take on the Seahawks, who have been struggling of late.

The Chiefs beat the Chargers last week to continue their unbeaten run, but this will be a tougher test. QB Patrick Mahomes is 105-158 for 1309 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions. Former Seahawk RB Kenneth Walker III has been the star in this Chiefs offense. He has 196 carries for 665 yards and six touchdowns, with 14 receptions for 95 yards and another two touchdowns. TE Travis Kelce and WR Tyquan Thornton both have two touchdowns as well, with WRs Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice having one touchdown apiece.

The Seahawks have lost their last two games against the 49ers and the Broncos, so will want to get back to winning ways. QB Sam Darnold has struggled this season, with 90 of 149 for 1033 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba has 49 receptions for 717 yards and seven touchdowns, whilst RB Emanuel Wilson has 87 carries for 303 yards and two touchdowns. WR Cooper Kupp has 16 receptions for 179 yards and a touchdown.

Prediction – Both sides have good defenses this season, with both sitting in the top 10 for points allowed per game (Chiefs are 2nd (16.6) and the Seahawks are 7th (20.3)). However, the Chiefs are also 5th in points scored per game. For me, the Chiefs win a tight one.

Best of the rest

The Denver Broncos (4-2) travel to the State Farm Stadium to take on the Arizona Cardinals (2-4), with the Broncos winning their last two games, and the Cardinals stopping a four game losing streak with a win over the Rams last week. Broncos win by seven in this one.

The Los Angeles Rams (2-4) take on the Las Vegas Raiders (3-3), with the Rams already in a must-win game against a side who won their first three, and are now in a three game losing streak. That losing streak comes to an end in this one, the Raiders picking up the win by three points.
